Google Shopping Interface
« on: October 03, 2011, 04:48:05 PM »
So has anyone found a solution to this? Or are we really going to have to just loose out on all the traffic associated with Google Shopping? Since the 30th September when my feed got disapproved I have lost 20% of my daily views and seen a sharp drop in sales especially of dry goods. Thankfully I have a loyal customer base to keep afloat on but it is ridiculous to not have managed to get the hot fix in place in time even though it has been created by E-pages.

Every other supplier managed to get this hot fix in place so why has Daily dragged its feet on this?

OK. Well I can't be the only person with this problem and as such here is a temporary solution for any one in the same situation:

Go to the shopping portals > google

Here you should be able to view your data feed as a text file, right click and select "save as" and choose a simple file name, no spaces no special characters.

Now go to Excel or a similar editor, I am using Excel 2010 and will describe it through this, I don't know how well open office handles text files so if you know this works let people know!

Go to the "Data" tab and select "From Text". It will prompt you for the relevant data such as delimiter type, as standard this is "tab" for these data feeds. Follow this through and it should fingers cross create a spreadsheet from your text file.

At this point you can edit this file as any other batch edited file. For most peoples feeds and from what I have seen so far the most common reason is availability data at the moment, so simply add a new column header "availability" and the attribute type you will want to use is most likely "in stock" Now ensure you disable the automatic feed update, when the new 6.11 patch comes you should be able to go back to using an automatic update.

Now go into your Google Merchant Centre, select "Data Feed" and add new feed. Then select "manual" from the 2nd column and upload your file.

Your items should, given the usual wait with Google now be back online.

Hi,

Although we control the hardware the epages software runs on, we don't apply the patches this is done by epages.  There must have been a reason they didn't apply the hotfix straight away and it potentially was due to the delay in updating the epages system to 6.11 (This should have happened in January, but was delayed by epages until today). Generally epages have been very good in patching the shop system, however, with the extended delay to 6.11 the shops did fall behind other providers.

Regards,
Alan.
